So you're learning to drive in the UK, and you'll be sticking with EVs almost exclusively after you pass your driving test.
Here's the solution.
Almost all EVs are automatic, with no clutch or gear lever. If you're planning to only ever drive EVs, learning in an automatic makes sense. You'll get an automatic-only licence, which is simpler and often faster to achieve.
Some UK driving schools now offer EV lessons (e.g. in a Nissan Leaf, MG4, or Renault Zoe). This gets you familiar with regen braking, charging etiquette, and silent operation from day one. However, if EV lessons aren't available locally, we suggest learning in an automatic, as the transition will be easy.
After passing, you can arrange a short EV handover session to get comfortable with charging and regenerative braking.
